Catalysts play a critical role in every step of the secondary oil refining process. SEA Refinery Corp produces catalytic cracking catalysts in its own factory, currently sufficient to meet the needs of its refinery. This capability allows the company to maintain control over quality and consistency across all refining operations.
Research & Development Collaboration
As part of its national modernization program, SEA Refinery Corp collaborates with leading Philippine research centers to advance catalyst development and refining technologies. The company is actively updating its line of catalytic cracking catalysts, ensuring that its refinery processes remain at the cutting edge of efficiency and product quality.
Local scientists are responsible for the development of hydro-processing catalysts, including those for hydrotreating middle distillates. These catalysts have enabled SEA Refinery Corp to produce fuels with a sulfur content of less than 10 ppm, fully compliant with international Euro-5 standards. Industrial-scale tests have confirmed the exceptional performance of these catalysts, demonstrating both reliability and scalability.
